Popular Used Tudor Ranger Watches
The Ranger collection was inspired by Tudor’s Oyster Prince Rangers of the 1960’s. The contemporary Ranger line made its debut in 2014 as part of the brand’s Heritage collection. It features a distinctly minimalist design that seamlessly combines both vintage and modern characteristics. One of its most notable attributes is the 3-6-9-12 dial that was made iconic by Rolex, Tudor’s parent brand. This simple, straightforward, military-inspired tool watch has quickly become a favorite for the Tudor brand.

About Tudor Ranger
The Ranger is a recently revived model in the Tudor family of watches. A variety of different Ranger models were produced in the 1960’s under the name Oyster Prince Rangers. One of the most notable models from this time is the 1967 Ref 7995/0, a modest but robust tool watch with a black dial, Oyster case and bracelet, and the 3-6-9-12 dial made iconic by the Rolex Explorer from Tudor’s parent brand.
The contemporary Ranger line made its official debut in 2014 as part of the Heritage collection. It pays homage to classic military and adventure watches, with a minimalist, function-over-form approach that combines both vintage and modern design features.
The dial of the Ranger provides its vintage appeal, drawing on the original Ranger models of the 1960’s and the Rolex Explorer. It showcases a simple style of numerals, in a 3-6-9-12 fashion at the poles. The watch also features a domed crystal and painted, not printed, hour markers, both of which instantly give the model a vintage feel.
The case size of the Ranger is modern, measuring at a sizable 41mm, and features a brushed stainless steel finish with a smooth, thin bezel and no crown guards. It’s waterproof up to 150 meters and equipped a Tudor caliber 2824 in-house movement with a 38-hour power reserve. There are also a number of strap options available for the Ranger, including tan leather, camouflage fabric, or a stainless steel bracelet.
Overall, the new Ranger collection is a nod to the Rangers of the past in a lot of ways. It’s a simple and straightforward military-inspired tool watch with an iconic 3-6-9-12 dial, baton hour markers, an arrow hour hand, baton minute hand, syringe second hand, and vintage dial markings, including the Rose logo and self-winding inscription at the six-o’clock position.
Still, the new Ranger collection has received some important modern updates. In addition to the larger, more contemporary size, the proportions are different from the original, with a thinner bezel and larger dial opening. Ultimately, the Ranger strikes the perfect balance between vintage style and the feel of a modern tool watch.
